One week old!

Kade is officially one week old today. Here are some new pictures of both kids from the past few days.

Camden was enjoying some tummy time with her baby brother.

Kade's first bath at home. He hated it...he screamed through the entire thing. Camden thought it was pretty funny though.

Our friends Steve and Beth stopped to visit last night with their daughter Abby, who is 3 months old. Here's a picture of all three kids together.

Getting ready to go for his first walk. All bundled up in his carseat.

Camden has been squeezing in as much mommy and daddy time as possible the last few days. Here she is playing her favorite game with her daddy - Hop on Pop.

Kade is Home!!

We got the good news yesterday morning that we all three would get to leave the hospital together! Around 2:00 both Mommy and Kade were discharged and we finally got to introduce Camden to her baby brother. She was very excited to finally meet the little man we had been talking about for so long.
Here's Kade strapped in his carseat and ready to leave the NICU.
Camden's first glimpse of her baby brother.

Camden even got to hold him (with a little help from daddy).

Our first night at home was a good one. So far he is a very good sleeper. We had to set an alarm to wake him every 4 hours and feed him. Let's hope the next few nights go as smoothly as the first one!

Update on Kade

Kade is doing great! Although he is still in the NICU, he has made huge strides since Wednesday. He is now disconnected from every monitor and machine that he was on, including his IV. Today we were able to spend most of the day with him. We got to do several diaper changes, all of the feedings, take his temperature and even help with his bath. He has been eating every three hours and taking around 1 1/2 ounces at each feeding. His minimum that he needs to take at a feeding is just under 1 ounce, so he is surpassing expectations!

Here are some updated pictures from today.

Welcome Kade

Yesterday morning at 7:53 am we welcomed Kade Mathew Wilson to our family. He weighed in at 6 pounds 13 ounces and is 20 inches long.

He had a little trouble with his breathing immediately after delivery, so they took him to the NICU for a little extra help. He is now off all of the monitors. Mommy and Daddy got to feed and hold him on Wednesday night and again this morning. Overall the doctors are very pleased with his progress and think he is doing great! He will remain in the NICU until at least tomorrow morning when they get the rest of his cultures back.

Camden has not yet gotten the opportunity to meet her little brother (NICU rules are no siblings under 5), but is very excited to see him.

Here are a few pictures of the newest member of the Wilson Family!

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Today we went to Ames to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. First we had lunch at Hickory Park and then we went to Reiman Gardens. The kids had a great time looking atall of the butterflies and everything else there was to see there. And luckily the rain ended just in time so that we could see everything there was to see outside.
Here's Grandpa and Grandma with all of the grandkids (for now...the fourth grandchild will be added in two weeks!)
The happy family of three--soon to be four.
Camden and Emmett thought the water was great!
Especially these frogs that squired water out of their mouths!!
Camden and Daddy were looking for fishies in the pond. They spotted a few goldfish swimming around!
Two...make that FOUR thumbs up from Camden and Emmett!
Ella and Grandma were just happy to be outside.
There were lots of places for little kids (and dads) to explore.
Emmett and Camden got to dig for dinosaur bones as part of the dinosaur dispaly.
And Grandma gave the kids pennies to throw into the fountain.
The last place we stopped before we left was the butterfly garden. There were lots and lots of pretty butterflies. Camden and Emmett were intently studying the butterfly display before seeing the butterflies.
By the time we left, we had three very sleepy children.

Big Helper

Camden loves to help mommy cook. We had to make cookies for church last weekend so Camden was happy to help. Her job was to dump the ingredients into the bowl. She did a very good job of it...until we came to the chocolate chips.
A closer look at her made me realize that she was eating just as many chocolate chips as she was putting in the bowl.
When she was finished, she destroyed the evidence :)

And just for fun, here's a picture I took of Camden and Derek on Saturday (8/8/09). I remembered that we had a very similar picture of Camden from right after she was born. Here's the same picture from almost exactly two years ago (8/4/07). The best place to sleep is still on Daddy's chest. Some things never change!
