Don't Mess with the Paci

Kade has an addiction...a very serious addiction. He cannot stand to be without a pacifier. And usually it isn't just one paci, but every paci he can find. On this particular day, he happened to find three of them. And carried them all around--one in each hand and one in his mouth.
This is probably something we need to work on getting rid of. But for now we just laugh at how protective Kade is over his pacifiers.

Kade's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Kade's birthday with a big party at our house yesterday. The airplane themed party was complete with singing, cake, presents, balloons almost all of our closest friends and family! We would like to thank everyone who came to Kade's party and made it such a special day for him!
The birthday boy got a birthday hug from cousin Ella.
The birthday cupcakes
Kade got shy once everyone started singing Happy Birthday to him. But then Grandpa explained to him what was about to happen...the birthday cake!
Kade didn't use much caution when digging into the birthday cake. He went right for it!

And I think he loved it! Camden was excited to watch Kade eat his cake. But she was even more excited to have her own cupcake.

Mommy and Daddy with the birthday boy

Before long, Kade had completely destroyed the cake

He was in heaven!

We had to move the entire highchair outside after a bit because he was making such a mess!
After we cleaned up from the cake mess (and had a wardrobe change) it was time to resume the party with gifts.
He was telling Mommy and Daddy how much fun this party is!
He had LOTS of helpers there to help with the gift opening--which was good because he still doesn't quit have the hang of it yet.
Happy Birthday, Kade! We love you!

T-Ball

The kids have so much fun playing outside now and T-Ball seems to be one of their favorite games. Of course Kade can't watch Camden do anything without trying it himself. Although he doesn't quite understand how to grip a bat, he knows the concept of the sport.

Camden has quite a swing. She may follow in her mama's footsteps and be a softball player.

(...and No, we don't make Camden wear a helmet to play T-Ball, she is just a little obsessed with it right now. She doesn't want to take it off when she is done riding her bike.)

My baby is one!

I am just getting around to posting pictures of Kade's birthday. It's hard to believe my baby boy is already a year old. My, how time flies!
He is such a happy little boy. He really loves his independence and now that he's a walker he's even happier!
He hasn't quite mastered the gift opening yet. He will get more practice this weekend and his birthday party. Camden had to show him out to open up his presents. She was happy to offer up her assistance.
He was very excited to see some boy toys! He has been playing with girl toys for too long, we needed some dumptrucks in this house!
Apparently this is the only gift I took pictures of him opening. But as you can tell from his expressions, it was by far his favorite.
He instantly started pushing the truck around and making truck sounds. I guess boys inherently know what to do with a dump truck.

Along with turning one, comes some other big boy transitions. He is officially off the bottle and formula and drinking whole milk from a sippy cup. It was a very easy transition for him. He had his last bottle on the evening of his birthday and started with a sippy cup the next day. No troubles whatsoever!

Both kids also had their Well Baby visits last week. Below are their stats:

Camden's 3 year stats:

Weight: 27.4 pounds (13th percentile*)

Height: 37 1/4 inches (48th percentile)

*I was very excited that Camden had made it to the 13th percentile for height--this is higher than she has ever been. However, my excitement was short-lived when the nurse let me know that she was still in the 1st percentile for BMI. Apparently she is just taller than most other kids at her weight. Oh well, we'll still take it as progress!

Kade's 1 year stats:

Height: 31" (86th percentile)

Weight: 22 pounds 12.5 ounces (51st percentile)

Head: 19 inches (93rd percentile)

Gymnastics - A Farewell to Wigglebugs

Camden had her last 2-year old gymnastics class last week. Now she will be moving on from Wigglebugs. Which means she will be entering the world of gymnastics where mom and dad don't get to accompany you to class.
Here the girls are intently listening to Miss Brooke describe what they are to do on the bars.
Daddy helping Camden hang from the highest bar.
Getting ready to hang upside down.
They swing from a giant rope swing and land in the foam pit. Camden was more interested in playing in the foam pit at this time.
And catching the blocks as Miss Brooke threw them to her.
Trampoline time is always one of Camden's favorites.
Following Miss Brooke over to the balance beams with airplane arms
And of course there's always some fun too. This night they got to run through a giant inflatible dragon. Half of the girls were too scared to go into it, but Camden wasn't shy at all. She ran through that thing over and over.
The class has been so much fun! We are going to miss it. And Mommy and Daddy are going to miss going with her.

We have a walker!

Kade started taking steps about a week ago. He is now all-out walking every where he goes. Here are some of his first steps :-)
