Our final Christmas celebration

We had the last of our Christmas celebrations this weekend at Grandma and Grandpa King's house in Guthrie Center. We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa King, Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Jacki and Emmett and Ella.

Camden got her first fishing pole from Grandma and Grandpa. It's a Barbie fishing pole and the handle lights up when you push the button. Amazingly she already seems to know how to cast it. She was practicing in the living room until we told her it is an outside toy. I have a feeling she is going to want to go fishing with Grandpa this spring.
Kade got Bears clothes from Grandma. She really dislikes the fact that Daddy has jumped on the Viking bandwagon. She is trying to convert him to be a Bears fan. In fact, there is a battle going on right now since the Bears and Vikings are playing. I got a purple Vikings shirt for Christmas and Derek made me wear that tonight and he has his Viking shirt on too. Grandma dressed Kade in his Bears clothes. We will know in a few hours how this battle will end :)
You can even notice Grandma's Bears pants in the background.

Ella had just as much fun climbing on the presents. She got some practice opening presenets and will need that since she has a birthday coming up in a few weeks.
Emmett got a Cars chair for Christmas and loves it!
And Grandma and Grandpa got a new tractor to keep at their house. Emmett loved to drive it and Camden was happy being pulled in the trailer. They can't wait for spring when they'll be able to drive this thing outside.
We had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa's house and the kids got some quality time in with family too. Here's Kade and Grandpa hanging out.
And here was Derek's Christmas present. He went hunting with Dad and shot a nice buck. Looks like everyone got what they wanted.

Sledding fun!

Well there has been one good outcome to all of this snow that we've gotten over the past few weeks. Sledding!! We are staying at Grandma and Grandpa King's house and it is a very hilly part of the state. So we went to our old favorite sledding spot at the golf course and took Camden for a ride. The golf course has some serious hills and this was Camden's first real sledding experience. We went down the hill three times before she decided she was done. She loved it the first two times, but she got a face full of snow the third time and that was enough for her. So we went back to Gma and Gpa's house and had some hot cocoa.

Here's Camden and Daddy going down the hill the second time.

It worked! Santa came!!

Well the cookies, milk and reindeer food worked because Santa stopped by our house. He ate most of the cookies, drank the milk and left presents. Camden was thrilled to come downstairs in the morning and see the cookies mostly eaten and presents waiting for her.

Santa brought Camden her very own digital camera. And he brought Kade a toy for his carseat.
Camden was just as interested in Kade's toy as he was.
Of course there were many other presents from Mommy and Daddy for Kade and Camden to open. What a fun morning!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

We represented the Holy Family at one of the Christmas Eve services at our church. Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus were all decked out in costumes while Baby Jesus' big sister was in the nursery.
When we got home, we sprinkled reindeer food in the snow so Santa's reindeer can find their way to our house on this snowy night. Here's how it works:

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.

Now that the reindeer food is out, we had to keep checking the sky to see if we could see Santa and his reindeer flying. Unfortunately we didn't spot them :(

There was only one thing left to do. That was to put out the cookies we had baked for Santa and a glass of milk.

Now we go to sleep and wait for Santa to come...

Cookies and Santa

Well Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without cookies and Santa. And we have both of them taken care of. Camden helped Grandma B. decorate sugar cookies. Camden was in charge of the sprinkles and she did her job well.
And when the sprinkles container touched the frosting, she was sure to lick it off. What - is that not proper sugar-cookie-decorating etiquette?Look at all of those sprinkles!
Is this not the cutest little Santa Clause you've ever seen?
Ho! Ho! Ho!

2 down 2 to go

We have two Christmases down and two left. We celebrated Christmas last Saturday with Grandpa Ken and Deb and on Sunday with Grandma B. And with Uncle Blair and Aunt Tarryn at both of them. Of course the kids were spoiled with many nice things. But most importantly, they got to spend quality time with their family...and that is the true blessing of the holidays.
Camden caught on to the present opening very quickly. But she drove Aunt Tarryn crazy because she had to pick up every, tiny piece of paper after she opened the gifts. That is her father in her coming out--I've never been accused of being a neat freak before :)

And here's the whole family dressed for Church on Sunday. We helped Grandma B. with the lighting of the Advent Candles at church.

Cereal

There was a special treat that came with turning four months old. Kade now gets to start eating cereal. He had his first helping of cereal last Friday night after his 4-month well baby visit. He wasn't sure what to think of it at first. But he caught on pretty quickly. And now, less than a week later, he gets MAD if you take too long to put another bite in his mouth! After a few weeks of cereal, we'll be able to start him on fruits and veggies.
Here's his first taste...no crazy expressions or anything :(

4 Months Old!

Kade's 4 month stats:
Weight - 16 pounds 9 1/2 ounces (82nd percentile)
Length - 25 3/4 inches (80th percentile)
Head size - 17 inches (78th percentile)
December 12 marked Kade's 4-month birthday. Kade is now rolling pretty consistently both from his belly to his back and his back to his belly. He smiles and laughs all the time. He is still sleeping though the night - usually 10 to 11 hours!
Four months also marked Kade's first round of ear infections. We took him to the doctor last Monday because he just wasn't acting like himself. Sure enough he had an ear infection! Hopefully this isn't a start of the same thing his sister went through!

Video Overload

Here are some more fun videos of the kids from last week. We were stranded at home on Wednesday because of the blizzard and here's how we spent our day :)

And this video of Kade is for his Great Aunt Darcy. She requested videos of him 'talking' and laughing. This is the best that we've caught on camera so far.

We bought a new video camera today so we just had to try it out. Here is Camden showing off her dancing skills for the new camera :)

Santa!

We took a family trip to Bass Pro Shop in Altoona last week. They had their entire Santa’s Village set up complete with Santa. As we first walked into the store, Santa was going on break and walked up to Camden and said hello. Camden immediately started crying. She did not want anything to do with Santa. So we thought a Christmas lesson was in order. So I spent the next several minutes explaining to her the concept of Santa. After our short lesson, we went over to a small table and wrote Santa a letter. Camden told me what she wanted for Christmas while I inscribed the note:

Dear Santa,
I would like a kitty for Christmas. I’ve been a good girl.
Love,
Camden

Even after writing the letter, Camden wasn’t sure she wanted to see Santa. So we continued on our shopping. I explained to her that Santa won’t bring you any presents unless you tell him what you want. {okay…so maybe I exaggerated a little bit!} She finally decided that it was okay for her to tell Santa what she wants for Christmas—if that was the only way she could get presents. So we went back to the other side of the store where Santa was. As we were waiting in line, Camden said, “I want to go WAY over there” and pointed to the opposite side of the store. Too bad! We were in line and we were going to see Santa.

I told Camden that Kade would sit on Santa’s lap thinking that maybe she would give in then. So Santa took Kade, but Camden still wasn’t budging. So Santa offered to let Daddy sit on his lap. And there's the story of our Santa picture:

Happy Holidays from the Wilsons!!

Kade's Baptism

Today was a very special day for little Kade. He was baptized into our church . Our family was there to witness this event and it meant so much to us that they were all there. Even though Kade is too young to understand, we hope he appreciates the significance of this some day.

Kade did a great job during the actual baptism. He didn't cry a bit :)
Here is Kade with his sponsors-Uncle Jeremy and Uncle Blair.
