Okoboji

We spent the past weekend in Okoboji. Swimming is one of Camden's favorite things! We had perfect weather for a weekend on the beach!
We got up there on Friday just in time for Camden to enjoy some swimming in the lake. Unfortunately I forgot my camera on Friday so I didn't get any pictures of her floating in her tube on the lake. She had so much fun! On Saturday morning we walked out on the dock and looked for fish. We saw quite a few swimming in the lake. On Saturday afternoon we put our swim suits back on and went back to the beach to go swimming. But Camden wouldn't not get in the water for anything. Finally we asked her why she wouldn't get in the water and she said, "There's fish in there." She must not have realized that on Friday but after seeing them from the dock Saturday morning, she didn't want to be anywhere near the fish! She had fun playing in the sand anyway. And she would get just her feet wet in the water. Hopefully she forgets about the fish by the next time we go swimming in the lake!

On Saturday night we went to listen to a band near Arnold's Park. Camden has a new found love for dancing to music. So she spent the entire time dancing away to the music. Check out her moves :)

New Pictures

Camden has gotten to spend the last several days with her Grandmas because we didn't have daycare for a few days. So she has gotten absolutely spoiled! Today Grandma King took her to Target and bought her a bubble machine. Camden loves it! Here she is having fun with her bubbles.
And this is the attitude I got from her when I told her we needed to turn off the bubble machine and eat supper.Poor Sunny gets picked on constantly by Camden. She is very tolerant of her. Yesterday I heard Camden say, "ride her like a horsey" and I look over to see her sitting on Sunny. Sunny didn't seem to mind at all and Camden thought it was great fun!

Camden also got her first taste of sweet corn for the season. I think she enjoys it much more this year than she did last year - considering she actually has teeth to eat it this year. She ate two whole ears of corn last night.

Here's a picture of Camden and Daddy playing. You'll notice she is wearing only diaper in several of these pictures. She constantly says, "run around in my 'beeper' for a little bit." She doesn't want to wear anything but her diaper. I can't blame her with as hot as it's been!

Owies

We had an exciting day today. I got a call from daycare shortly after lunch that Camden had fallen and hit her head. Sarah said she had a pretty bad cut just above her eye and she wanted to meet me at Urgent Care. So I left work immediately and met them there. Camden didn't seem to be too upset by it. When they walked in, she wasn't crying at all but it was still bleeding. I went into the room with Camden while Sarah waited in the waiting room for Derek to get there.

The doctor came in and cleaned up the cut and took a look at it. She gave us the option of stitches or dermabond (a glue) to heal the cut. She said stitches would give a little cleaner heal but the dermabond would do well too. She said the dermabond is less traumatic for the kid because it doesn't involve needles. So I made the decision to go with the dermabond. We waited for Derek to get there before she did it. Sarah and Derek held Camden down on the table (The doctor said "the pregnant mom needs to sit down") while the doctor glued it back closed. Camden cried a little while they were gluing it - but I think that was more about being held down than anything! She did a great job with it and didn't seem to bothered by the whole thing!

Like any good daddy would do, Derek promised that he would get ice cream for her after it was all over. So a little ice cream and an Elmo band-aid made everything feel better! She was fine for the rest of the afternoon.

Room Reveal #1

We got Camden moved into her new room a few weeks ago. The room is now finished and she is loves it!! The transition was very easy. The first night she slept in her big girl bed, she was a little confused. She asked to go to her bed a few times. We explained to her that this is her bed now. She whined for about 10 minutes and then fell asleep. She has gone right to sleep in her bed ever since. She even asks if she gets to sleep in her big girl bed tonight - just about every day. She loves her new room!

Now we are in the process of redecorating Camden's old room to turn it into a boy's room. The room has been painted and we hope to have everything else in there finshed by the end of this weekend. Check back for pictures of room reveal #2 next week :)

Friday Fun

I promised Camden that on our first nice Friday afternoon I would take her to the pool. Well it was 80 degrees today so I made good on my promise. We went to the Ankeny splash park this afternoon. It took Camden about 20 minutes at the park before she got comfortable enough to actually play in the water. But once she discovered how fun it was, she didn't want to leave!

When we came home, Daddy grilled some brats for us and then we finished the night by playing outside. Daddy has been teaching Camden how to golf. Sunny likes to fetch the balls after Daddy and Camden hit them.

We finished off the night with a wagon ride around the neighborhood. Poor Camden was worn out and ready for bed by the time we finally made it inside! What a great start to the weekend!
