Santa!

We took a family trip to Bass Pro Shop in Altoona last week. They had their entire Santa’s Village set up complete with Santa. As we first walked into the store, Santa was going on break and walked up to Camden and said hello. Camden immediately started crying. She did not want anything to do with Santa. So we thought a Christmas lesson was in order. So I spent the next several minutes explaining to her the concept of Santa. After our short lesson, we went over to a small table and wrote Santa a letter. Camden told me what she wanted for Christmas while I inscribed the note:

Dear Santa,
I would like a kitty for Christmas. I’ve been a good girl.
Love,
Camden

Even after writing the letter, Camden wasn’t sure she wanted to see Santa. So we continued on our shopping. I explained to her that Santa won’t bring you any presents unless you tell him what you want. {okay…so maybe I exaggerated a little bit!} She finally decided that it was okay for her to tell Santa what she wants for Christmas—if that was the only way she could get presents. So we went back to the other side of the store where Santa was. As we were waiting in line, Camden said, “I want to go WAY over there” and pointed to the opposite side of the store. Too bad! We were in line and we were going to see Santa.

I told Camden that Kade would sit on Santa’s lap thinking that maybe she would give in then. So Santa took Kade, but Camden still wasn’t budging. So Santa offered to let Daddy sit on his lap. And there's the story of our Santa picture:

Kade's Baptism

Today was a very special day for little Kade. He was baptized into our church . Our family was there to witness this event and it meant so much to us that they were all there. Even though Kade is too young to understand, we hope he appreciates the significance of this some day.

Kade did a great job during the actual baptism. He didn't cry a bit :)
Here is Kade with his sponsors-Uncle Jeremy and Uncle Blair.

Our family after the baptism.
Here is the entire King crew {Emmett, Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Jacki, Ella, Daddy, Kade, Camden, Mommy, Grandma and Grandpa}

3 months old!

Kade is 3 months old already! Wow...time flies! He is such a great baby. He's made some great progress in the last month. The most noteworthy is that he is now sleeping all night long! Ahh...what a great thing :) He's rolled over a few more times (belly to back) but he still isn't doing it regularly. He is also smiling...all the time now! And he talks to us and lets out an occasional squeal.
His expressions are priceless!

And Camden still loves holding her baby brother.
His neck strength is much greater now. He holds his head up so well. And he loves to be upright and looking around.
Here's one of his great big smiles :) This melts my heart!

Too early to think about Christmas??

While Christmas may still be 46 days away (who's counting?) it's never too early to start thinking about it! We took advantage of the option our local tree farm offers to come out in November and tag your tree. We enjoyed the 70 degree November day we were given and used it to wander around acres and ares trying to find the perfect tree. It's much more pleasant than to take two children out on a blustery cold December day and settling with the first tree you find.
With all of these trees to choose from, how are we ever going to pick just one??

So with Kade in the Baby Bjorn, we set off to look.
Camden seemed to really like the little ones.
We kept having to steer her back towards the bigger trees.
How about this one??
We found a winner!! Daddy filled out the tag to make it ours!
Now we just have to go back in a few weeks to cut it down and bring it home.

Go Hawks!

We all got dressed up in our Hawkeye clothes for the game on Saturday...hoping to watch the Hawkeyes make it 9-0.
Apparently Camden has watched a few too many games this season. If you ask her who her favorite Hawkeye is, she will say, "Stanzi". We did not teach her that...she completely picked that up on her own. If we were to teach her who her favorite player is, we would have picked someone other than Stanzi.
Daddy says Kade's favorite player is Tyler Sash...but Kade can't tell you that yet :) Maybe next season!
Camden yelled words of encouragement to her favorite player - Ricky Stanzi after his fifth interception of the day.
But in the end, Stanzi and the Hawkeyes pulled it off. Way to go Hawkeyes!

Tick-or-Treat!!

Friday night was trick-or-treating here in Ankeny. Camden got to choose her own costume this year and decided on being a black kitty. Complete with black whiskers and all.
Since Kade doesn't have a say in what he's going to be, we decided he would be a mouse! What could compliment a cat better than a mouse?
Unfortunately the weather here was not ideal for trick-or-treating on Friday night. It was cold and rainy! But we still managed to take Camden to a few neighbors houses. Then we came home and let her help give out candy in her costume.
Camden is showing off her candy!

First I took Camden to a few houses. Then we came home and she asked Derek, "Daddy, can you take me to a couple houses?" So Derek too her to a few more after she had a chance to warm up!
Of course Kade didn't care about the Halloween festivities. Here is how he spent most of the evening!
