We knew this day was coming...

The day has finally arrived.  We knew it was coming, but we didn't know it would be so soon.  It is officially here...Kade weighs more than his big sister!

Camden went to the doctor for a pre-op physical before she gets her next set of ear tubes on Monday, January 3rd.  She was weighed at her appointment and weighed 26 pounds, fully-clothed.  Kade weighed 25.8 at his last appointment with nothing on. Which means that Kade, who is younger than Camden by 2 years and 15 days, now weighs more than her.

It worked!

The cookies and reindeer food worked.  Santa and his reindeer found their way to our house on Christmas Eve!

I was the first one up on Christmas morning.  I patiently waited for the rest of the house to get up.  At 7:30 I thought I heard Camden making some noise so I went in her room and helped her wake up the rest of the way.  I think the bright flash was more than she wanted at that time of the morning.  After a little convincing, I was able to get her out of bed and next we moved on to waking Daddy.

Daddy wasn't too excited about getting out of his warm bed either.  But after a short game of Hop On Pop, he was ready to get up too.
Finally we moved on to waking up Kade.  He was really not digging the early morning wake up (by this time it was nearly 8, so not really that early!).
Did I mention Kade wasn't happy about being woke up?
So after a little meltdown on the stairs, he finally made it down to see what Santa had left for him.
Cam was amazed when she saw Santa had eaten most of the cookies and left all sorts of goodies for her.
One of the gifts Santa had left for her was a craft kit.  Inside of it was a pair of scissors. I think that was Camden's favorite gift she got.  She insisted on cutting up every piece of wrapping paper from there on out.  Too funny!
Kade opened (with a little help from Mom) a new pair of kicks from Santa.
And there were lots more goodies for everyone!
All in all we had 4 very spoiled people in our house on Christmas morning.

We're Ready!

Christmas Eve is here and we are so excited!  We started the evening by going to our church's Christmas Eve Service.  It's a beautiful service that tells the story of Jesus' birth through scripture and song.  Unfortunately the kids aren't quite old enough to appreciate it like I do, so we end up doing a lot of kid wrangling and not much watching.

After church we came home and sprinkled our Reindeer food on the snow so Santa's reindeer will be able to find our house.

Then we said goodbye to our dear friend Joy.  She's been with us for the past month, but tonight she will make her final journey back to the North Pole until next Thanksgiving.

And finally we put our cookies out for Santa.

We have two very excited little kids that can't wait to wake up tomorrow morning and see what Santa has left for them!
We're ready for your visit, Santa!

Christmas at Grandma B's House

We spent several days in Rock Rapids celebrating Christmas with Grandma B, Uncle Blair, Aunt Tarryn and cousin Reagan.  Camden and Kade got to spend a lot of quality time with Reagan.  It was so nice considering they don't get to see her too often!

It's become a tradition to have a crab leg feast during our Wilson Family Christmas.  This year we added Crayfish to the mix.  I think Derek and Blair were the only ones to eat them, but it was fun to make something different.
Here's the master crab leg chef preparing the food.
Blair and Derek's first taste of the crayfish.
Tarryn and I were completely repulsed by the crayfish.

Next it was time to open presents! This was the part the kids were waiting for.  Here's Camden modeling her new Columbia fleece from Grandma.
Grandma holding a Christmas ornament with the grandkids' names on it.
Kade was more entertained by climbing in and on the clothes basket than anything else.
He loved the dump truck because, again, he could climb in it.
Grandma got all three of the kids matching pajamas.  Getting them to pose together for a picture wasn't so easy though.  The girls cooperated pretty well, but Kade wasn't in the mood for a photo shoot.
Derek showing off his new Hawkeye fleece.
We were finally able to get a picture of all three kids in their matching pj's sitting with Grandma.
Another tradition that has developed over the past few years is decorating sugar cookies with Grandma.  I think Kade did more eating than decorating.
Thanks for the great times and memories Grandma B.  We had so much fun!

Christmas with Grandpa Ken and Deb

We had our first Christmas celebration with Grandpa Ken and Deb on Sunday in Sioux Falls, SD.We had so much fun!  I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked.  When I downloaded them I realized I only had one of Grandpa Ken and non of Deb!  I

Little Reagan has grown so much since I last saw her on Halloween!  She is getting to be such a big girl!
Uncle Beek and Aunt Tarryn got Kade a Hawkeye book.  I think this is Daddy and Kade's new favorite book!
Here's Grandpa Ken helping Camden put together her easel that they got for her.

My Lil' Helpers

To get ready for Christmas, Camden and I have been doing a lot of holiday baking. We've been making all sorts of Christmas goodies and she's been by my side through it all.

We started with Gingerbread men. Unfortunately our gingerbread man cookie cutters were packed away in storage so we had to borrow some from the neighbor. The first batch got eaten by Dad and Kade right away so we made several batches of those!

After Gingerbread men, we moved on to dipped pretzel rods. Camden was in charge of the sprinkles...

and she rocked those sprinkles!

Another day we made gingberbread cheesecake bars to take up to Grandpa's house for Christmas. I had two little helpers when it came time to lick off the whisk.

Here are some of our other creations:

Peppermint bark

Peanutbutter Blossoms
Cake Balls

We made several other goodies, too that we didn't get pictures of.
