First Signs of Progress

While it might not look like much, we have seen the first signs of progress on our house.  On Thursday, our lot got staked to indicate exactly where the house will sit on the land.

The process has been slow going so far, but we are expecting it to pick up pretty quickly.  We've spent the past month since moving into our rental finalizing the floor plan of the home and beginning to pick out some initial things.  We've had a few different challenges initially - mostly around the septic system and getting the building permit approved.  We finally have everything ready to go so they are anticipating they will begin to dig the basement sometime next week!
Each little stake is labeled with exactly what it is.  This helped us to identify and locate where everything will be.
We even have a sign of our builder in the lot so it looks official!
The culvert was also delivered and positioned exactly where it will sit.  The little white flag in the middle marks the center of our driveway.
Derek and the kids used the stakes to locate where our front door will be.  After this, Camden asked where her new room will be.  We showed her approximately where it will sit and she said, "I love my new room!" So cute!
She also loves that there are pine cones on the lot.  Hey - it doesn't take much to excite her.
The hill provides a lot of fun as well.  She ran up and down the hill over and over!
Kade also enjoys running around out there.
We can't wait until the house is complete and we can move out there and run around our yard every day!
Derek's favorite part of the lot is all of the wildlife that we see.  There were geese flying over the whole time we were out there.
You can't really see it in this picture (I didn't have my zoom lens with me).  But there is a field full of wild turkey right behind the driving range.  This made Derek very happy!
If they are able to start digging this week, we are looking at moving in sometime in July.  It can't get here fast enough!  Hurry up, July!
